2. Greedy Williams, CB, LSU

Another trade the Houston Texans could work on in the 2019 NFL Draft is to move up and select a cornerback in the early stages of the first round, and the top-rated cornerback right now is LSU star Andraez “Greedy” Williams. Williams has a chance to be an excellent cornerback in the NFL and really make a name for himself as a threat to any team his faces on a weekly basis.

The Texans have Kareem JacksonKayvon Webster and Shareece Wright all being free agents at cornerback this offseason. Though some of those players had high grades via Pro Football Focus, the team really needs to look elsewhere when it comes to gaining the players who will make a difference in the big games.

Houston needs to find a shutdown cornerback to compete with teams in the AFC South, especially with the Indianapolis Colts, as we all know what they brought to each of the three games played against the Texans last season.

Todd McShay of ESPN.com, in his “Mock Draft 2.0,” has Williams being drafted in the Top 10 — No. 8 overall to the Detroit Lions — so if the Texans want Williams they’ll have to trade up in the first round to select him. McShay wrote the following on Williams in his Mock Draft 2.0:

"“The tall LSU corner has the closing speed to bait quarterbacks and then pounce on their mistakes.”"

This could really be a way for the Texans to get better instantly in their secondary. If the Texans were have to pay a steep price to move up in the draft it could be worth this price it in the long run. Finding impactful cornerbacks that can really frustrate the quarterbacks on their 2019 schedule will be tough to come by, so being interested in Williams isn’t a bad thing to ponder if you think about it.
