Round 5, Pick 27: Jordan Simone, S, Arizona State

With the Texans second pick in the fifth round they grab Jordan Simone out of Arizona State to add to the mix at the safety position. Here the team is looking for a player that can provide depth while contributing on special teams as well, which was an area of weakness for the Texans.

A former walk-on who became a starter and a team leader for the Sun Devils, Simone would be slightly undersized at 6′ and 190 pounds. Still he has continually beat the odds and is worth giving a try at the next level.

During his two seasons in Tempe, Arizona the safety recorded 100 tackles in 2014 and 91 in 2015. He had two interceptions in each season while also recording five sacks (four of which came in 2015).

Simone is a playmaker who has a nose for being around the football.
