Will this finally be the week the Houston Texans earn their first win of the 2022 season, joining the rest of the NFL with at least one win to their credit?

If you are thinking this is going to be the “usual game” against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5, well that’s not the case in 2022, because the Jaguars coached by Doug Pederson are a much different team that what the recent Jaguars teams have been like.

Houston has won their past eight games against Jacksonville, but this season the Texans are the only team in the NFL without a win going into Week 5. The Jaguars are tied for first place in the AFC South after four games with a 2-2 record, as the Tennessee Titans are also 2-2 this season.

The Texans are 0-3-1 entering Week 5 and now have to face a Jaguars defense that’s allowing just 16.8 points per game this season, while their offense is averaging 26.3 points per game. On the other hand, the Texans are scoring 18.3 points per game, and allowing 23.3 points per game.

In comparing the quarterbacks for the two AFC South foes, the Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence has passed for 946 yards with eight touchdown passes, two interceptions and he’s been sacked six times. Houston quarterback Davis Mills has thrown for 908 yards with five touchdown passes, four interceptions and has been sacked 11 times in four games played.

There is a lot to look forward to with this game, but the quarterback play jumps off the page because they are both young quarterbacks who have played for multiple head coaches in their careers thus far, and both need to play well for their team to have a chance to win.

Both teams are in a “rebuilding phase” and it seems as of right now the Jaguars are ahead some in that process. We also have to remember that rebuilding a team is a marathon and not a sprint. Below is more game day information for Week 5 as Houston will be on the road against the Jaguars this Sunday.
