2. The Texans can’t mess up the 13th overall selection of the ’22 NFL Draft

As important as the third overall pick is for the Houston Texans, it will be tough to mess that decision up because of the talent that will be available with that selection. Even if they trade down a few spots, they should be fine there.

Then there is the 13th overall pick of the ’22 NFL Draft, one of the picks received for former Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson in a blockbuster trade earlier this month. This pick is huge for the franchise because all that went into obtaining it, and all the drama the Texans suffered through with Watson over the past 12-plus months.

For argument’s sake, if the Texans draft one of the big-time EDGE rushers with the third overall pick, there are many directions Houston can go with this choice as they can always trade down to add more draft picks, or if one of the big-time wide receivers are on the board, that could be a choice too to help out the offense which needs all the top players they can get.

The Texans could also add to the secondary with this choice depending on who is available with this pick, and that isn’t such a bad idea either, especially if Ahmad Gardner, also known as “Sauce Gardner,” is on the board somehow at 13th overall.

Houston could really use another cornerback or safety, even a defensive tackle added to Lovie Smith’s defense. If the decision were to be made to select offensive line or running back with this pick, that wouldn’t be the best decision, but adding wide receiver, defensive line or a new player in the secondary, that makes the most sense with the 13th overall pick.
