Tight End (4)

Darren Fells, Jordan Akins, Jordan Thomas, Kahale Warring

When this group of tight ends is healthy, they will be very tough to stop as all have various roles within the offense. Darren Fells showed his veteran leadership and experience last season, which really helped out the offense in times of need. There is Jordan Akins, who could really have a breakout season added to his improvement from last season.

It is tough not to be a big fan of Jordan Thomas, and when he’s on the field, he has so much untapped potential that it will be exciting to see him back in a Houston Texans uniform, and hopefully he can stay on the field this season. The same can be said for Kahale Warring, who is a mystery because we don’t exactly know what he’s capable of as he is a former third-round pick in 2019.

Fells was a pleasant surprise for the Texans this past season, and it will be important for him to be on the roster this season as well because with the injury history of Thomas and Warring listed, who knows how reliable they will be in 2020.

Let’s talk about Akins. Did you realize he was fourth in receiving yards last season with the Texans with 418 yards, plus he averages 11.6 yards per reception, and he had two touchdown receptions? Of his 36 receptions, Akins had four of them go for 20-plus yards, including nine for 53 yards, which trailed only Will Fuller for longest reception of the season for Houston.

The tight ends on the Texans will produce big this season, and though they might have to share targets, there should be plenty to go around this season. Don’t forget, they’ll be needed for their blocking skills as well.
