2. Karan Higdon, running back

Karan Higdon could provide competition at the running back spot for the Houston Texans this offseason in training camp and into the preseason, as he does have skills that can land him on the 53-man roster of the Texans.

In 2018 at the University of Michigan, Higdon rushed for 1,178 yards on 224 carries, averaging 5.3 yards per carry. He also collected seven rushing touchdowns and grabbed seven receptions for 43 yards.

Though he didn’t have the best times running, having a 4.49 40-yard dash time this offseason, with the running back situation what it is, Higdon could work his way to a roster spot by bringing competition to the rest of the Texans’ current running backs because other than Lamar Miller, the rest of the depth chart could be up for grabs.

The current running back depth chart of the Texans, according to OurLads.com, includes: Miller,
D’Onta Foreman, Cullen Gillaspia (2019 rookie draft choice), Buddy Howell (free agent signing), Taiwan Jones (free agent signing), Damarea Crockett (2019 UDFA), Josh Ferguson and Higdon.

Like all rookie free agent signings, Higdon has a lot of work ahead of him, but for the Texans’ sake they should hope Higdon is hungry because there needs to be some sort of spark coming from the running backs this upcoming season. That spark didn’t seem to be there last season for any extended stretch of time, so maybe Higdon is the player they’ve been looking for to improve the overall production of the running back group.
