The Houston Texans will miss linebacker Dylan Cole after he went down with an injury this past week.

Houston Texans’ undrafted rookie linebacker Dylan Cole has made an instant impact during his first NFL season for the defending AFC South champs.

Even though Cole played his college ball at a small school like Missouri State, he’s recorded 19 tackles, one sack and two interceptions during his first six NFL games.

Unfortunately, Cole suffered a hamstring injury during this past Sunday’s win over the Cleveland Browns, that will keep him out for the next few weeks.

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle says that Cole could miss at least four weeks.

With Brian Cushing out due to a suspension and Whitney Mercilus done for the season after suffering a torn pectoral muscle, the Texans need guys like Cole to make an impact. And so far he has. It’s unfortunate that he will miss at least a month.

Cole has an overall grade of 73.7 from Pro Football Focus, which is pretty good for an undrafted rookie. Even though he’s only started one game this season, Houston will miss Cole’s presence on the field.

If Ben Heeney is healthy and ready to go after this week’s bye, he could end up taking over Cole’s role as he recovers.

Until Cole comes back, there’s no doubt in my mind that the Texans will miss him.

Texans check out a quarterback.

Adam Caplan reported on Tuesday that the Texans worked out free agent quarterback Taylor Heinicke.

The 24 year-old Heinicke went undrafted in 2015 out of Old Dominion University and ended up signing with the Minnesota Vikings. He then signed with the New England Patriots this year, but was then released.

The Texans currently have two quarterbacks on their active roster with Tom Savage and Deshaun Watson. My guess is that they wouldn’t mind adding one to their practice squad.
