I wouldn’t be surprised if the Houston Texans take Ryan Ramczyk in this week’s NFL draft.
The NFL Network conducted their own 2017 live NFL mock draft this past weekend.
Draft expert Bucky Brooks talked about the Texans quarterback situation and made it clear that he’s not confident in either Tom Savage and Brandon Weeden.
Brooks then went on to say he would take Wisconsin left tackle Ryan Ramczyk in the first round if he was Texans’ general manager Rick Smith.
"“He’s going to step in at right tackle. He’s going to replace Derek Newton. Derek Newton is hurt. We’re going to be able to run the football with Lamar Miller. We have the protection<,” said Brooks.“Look, Rick Smith went on record with saying they’re OK with Tom Savage being the starting quarterback. he needs to be healthy and stay there. But if we can run the ball and protect him with all the weapons. Maybe they can be successful.”"
Brooks then said the Texans could maybe then get a quarterback in the second round.

Like I mentioned in my Texans draft strategy prediction, I would be surprised if Houston doesn’t go with an offensive lineman in the first round and then take a quarterback on day two.
I get the feeling that there’s not going to be a quarterback worth taking with the 25th overall pick. It sounds like Brooks agrees with my thinking.
Whether the Texans get a quarterback in the first or second round, the player they select will need time to develop no matter what.
