Houston Texans football is almost back.
We know we’re getting closer to the start of the 2017 NFL season when the league releases the preseason schedule for each team.
The NFL will likely release the regular season schedule as well within the next few weeks.
The Houston Texans’ preseason schedule is as follows:
Week 1: Texans at Panthers
Week 2: Patriots at Texans
Week 3: Texans at Saints
Week 4: Cowboys at Texans
There really isn’t much to analyze when it comes to the preseason schedule. The games meaningless and teams don’t show much when it comes to any new tweaks to their offenses or defenses.
All teams care about is their players getting back into football shape and rhythm with their teammates. And of course staying healthy.
Anything else is a bonus.
But the most important game for the Texans is their third game on the road against the Saints since that’s typically the “dress rehearsal” for the regular season.

I would expect to see the Texans’ starters for at least three quarters against New Orleans as they prepare for week one.
Then the final preseason game against the Cowboys will likely have the starters play one series, if that. It will mostly be a game for the future FedEx drivers to fight for a roster spot.

The NFL and the Texans didn’t release the dates for the preseason games yet. They will likely come out closer to training camp.
