Might be hard for the Texans to re-sign Quintin Demps

Soon to be free agent safety Quintin Demps was a guest on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Friday morning and made it clear that he wants to re-sign with the Houston Texans but isn’t willing to accept a hometown discount.

Demps was asked whether his agent has spoken with the Texans yet.

Demps also raved about cornerback A.J. Bouye who will also become a free agent next month.

The 31 year-old Demps only made $1.4 million in 2016.  I’m not sure how much money he really thinks he’s going to get as a free agent, since he will be turning 32 before next season.

Demps wasn’t bad last season, but you have to wonder how much of his success was due to the defensive system he was in as well as the talent around him.

Demps was given a grade of 72.2 by Pro Football Focus for his play this past season. He did have six interceptions, but once again that could be due to the defensive scheme.
