DeAndre Hopkins would love it if Vikings running back Adrian Peterson were to join the Texans this offseason,

Hopkins told the Pioneer Press that anyone would want Peterson their team.

“Who wouldn’t want Adrian Peterson?” Hopkins said, via TwinCities.com.

What about Lamar Miller?

“We’ve got (running back) Lamar Miller here, but I don’t think Lamar Miller would be opposed to having Adrian Peterson helping out in the backfield,” he said.

Hopkins, who has become friends with Peterson plans on trying to recruit him if the Vikings end up releasing the All-Pro back.

“He’s a great player. Why not?”said Hopkins.

Hopkins still believes Peterson is one of the top running backs in the NFL despite his injury problems over the past few years.

“Without a doubt and the way he comes back from injuries,” said Hopkins, who has 317 catches in four NFL seasons and made the Pro Bowl a year ago. “Just knowing him and what he wants to do in this league, I don’t think this injury is going to stop him.”

Hopkins says Peterson never told him that he would want to play for the Texans, but the star running back recently listed them as a team he wouldn’t mind playing for.

“We’ve definitely talked, not only about football, but just about him being a big brother to me in this league,” Hopkins said. “We’re good friends.”

Peterson is nothing more than a big name now.  He hasn’t been the same player in two years.  He looked old and slow early on during the 2016 season and was very unimpressive before suffering a knee injury that sidelined him for almost the rest of the season.

The smart move for the Texans would be to draft a young back that can learn and grow behind Miller.
