5. Bennie Joppru, Second round, 2003

Some draft busts get on the field and show that their just not ready for the NFL (looking at you, Johnny Football). But in Bennie Joppru’s case, he never got a chance to prove he belonged in the pros.

In 2002, Joppru was a rugged tight end from Michigan that had the size of a prototype tight end with good hands and a great mind. Needing to find more weapons for David Carr, then-general manager Charley Casserly took him in the third round.

But Joppru was already dealing with a groin injury, then a serious knee injury forced him to sit out for three years before he could get to play a down with the Texans. He did play a game in 2006, his first – and last game as a Texan.

He was cut later that season, then picked up by Seattle and played 18 games for the Seahawks from 2006 to 2007, mostly playing special teams. He was cut after 2007 and his career was over.

Joppru remains the highest drafted tight end in Texans history.
