The starter: Jay Prosch
Jay Prosch was a sixth-round pick out of Auburn in 2014 and is a true throwback player. He’s the kind of fullback fans love as he seeks the would-be-tacklers and hits them head on.

Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 256 pounds
Age: 23
Career rushing yards: 33
Career rushing TDs: 0
While Prosch does his job well, most people may not know it because Houston hardly utilizes a fullback. He won’t put up gaudy numbers (or any really) but he will do what’s asked whether it be on offense or special teams.
Season prediction: 25 yards rushing, 1 TD (yes, his first career touchdown!)

The hopeful: Soma Vainuku, FB
The undrafted kid out of USC, Soma Vainuku has NFL bloodlines as he is the cousin of Cincinnati Bengals linebacker (and fellow Trojan) Rey Maualuga.
Vitals
Height: 5-foot-11
Weight: 246 pounds
Age: 23
Career rushing yards: 148 (USC)
Career rushing TDs: 3 (USC)
On the field Vainuku is known for two things. One is being a special teams stud, as evidenced by his three career punt blocks for the Trojans. Another is his rough style of play which led to too many penalties despite limited time on the field.
Next: Houston Texans positional breakdown: QB
He is tough, he is nasty and his style could lead him to becoming a fan favorite. In the end, it may not be enough to unseat Prosch for the lone fullback spot.
Season prediction: Released before 53-man roster is finalized
