Giving up on the 2015 class?

Perhaps I was in the minority, but the third round selection on Braxton Miller seemed rather superfluous. Houston dedicated a third-round pick (which they moved up for) to Jaelen Strong out of ASU and their next pick (a fifth-rounder) went to Keith Mumphery out of Michigan State.

Both showed flashes and perhaps Strong’s boneheaded move to get arrested for pot this offseason played in their decision, but still it felt like they truly gave up on their rookies from the previous season already.

In 2015 they played five receivers for the majority of the season with Hopkins, Cecil Shorts, Nate Washington, Mumphery and sometimes Strong. Now that they’ve added two receivers (and saw Washington leave) they may find themselves having to leave a young talented player inactive on game day.

Overall the draft was a success for Houston and hate was probably too strong a word. The team made some smart moves and will be better off in the long run. Let us know in the comment section below how you felt the draft went for your Houston Texans!
