The Houston Texans fell to 0-2 on the season after a 24-17 loss to the Carolina Panthers Sunday. Head coach Bill O’Brien and quarterback Ryan Mallett were available for a press conference following the painful loss.
Here are some of the quotes from the coach and the offensive leader;
Bill O’Brien
On his overall assessment of the game:“Coaches gotta coach better, players gotta play better. We’re all in it together. Been around plenty of teams that started off with two tough losses and came back had pretty good seasons.”
On where they go from here: “Gotta go back to work tomorrow and fix the problems.”
On his feelings about the team and their game play: “I think we’re a resilient team…we gotta stop digging ourselves into these holes.”
More about the game play: “We don’t start these games very well, especially offensively. We gotta start better.”
Some insight on their struggles: “The first play of the game, there was a screw up on offense.”
How he sees the makeup of his team: “They keep fighting and that’s what this team’s all about.”
Ryan Mallett
His overall thoughts: “We’ve got to execute better, know our job, do our job.”
He discussed how at the ned they had a chance, and that’s all you can ask for in this league is a chance. He did point out that they made it harder on themselves being down by 14 points.
Talked about how hard the team fought and said: “I’m proud to be on this 53-man roster, but we gotta get a win”
On his self assessment: “There’s obviously plays I could have made that I didn’t.”
