Texans Morning Huddle – 5/19 Edition

Good morning Texans fans! It’s Tuesday, which means the first day of the week (and often the hardest) is out of the way. Still, we gotta get through another grind, and the best way to do so is starting off your morning right, which is why we bring you a collection of Texans news from around the web!

Texans players take to Twitter to congratulate Rockets following Game 7 win – By Phillipe Craig of The Houston Chronicle

"Just a year ago, the Texans were coming off of a disastrous 2-14 season, the Astros were about to draft a kid with the No. 1 overall selection only to see him go unsigned, and the Rockets were ousted from the 2014 playoffs in the first round on a heartbreaking 3 at the buzzer by Trail Blazers guard Damien Lillard. Well, it’s definitely a good time to be a Houston sports fan these days, with the Astros holding strong in first place and the Rockets headed to the Western Conference Finals. Oh, and did we mention that the Texans just narrowly missed the playoffs a few short months ago? Some of those same Texans — including occasional court-side dancer J.J. Watt — wasted no time in congratulating James Harden & Co. after Sunday’s Game 7 win over the Clippers, a third straight Rockets victory after losing home-court advantage en route to trailing 3-1 in the second-round series."

First look at Wilfork in his new uniform – By Phill Perry of Comcast Sports

"The Houston Texans website published a video last week, showing their players as they filmed in-stadium game-day videos to be used during the 2015 season.  At certain points, it looked like a Patriots reunion. Among the players featured in the video were former New England backup quarterbacks Ryan Mallett and Brian Hoyer. Defensive lineman Vince Wilfork also featured prominently in the brief clip."

Texans worst of 2014 draft: Louis Nix – By Terry McCormick of 247 Sports

"Nowhere was that more true than with our choice as the worst of the Texans’ 2014 draft. Defensive tackle Louis Nix IIIwas supposed to come in and man the nose tackle position. Instead, he came in out of shape and quickly drew the ire of head coach Bill O’Brien. Nix wound up on injured reserve before every playing a game, and now heads into 2015 in what could be a make-or-break season already for the third-round choice."
