David Quessenberry’s dedicated fight against the cancer that has sidelined his NFL career for now and his efforts off the field at raising awareness of the disease that currently affects around 700,000 Americans each year has earned him the highest accolade of public respect his teammates can bestow upon him. The Ed Block Courage Award. Quessenberry was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma back in June of this year and is still undergoing treatment. Fellow offensive linemen Chris Myers and Duane Brown led a campaign to raise $100,000 dollars for the Lymphoma Research Foundation. This was done with sales of “Texans for DQ” shorts and back in October they accomplished this goal. Meyers has been a very active in showing his support for the young man and the cause to fight the disease. He talked very positively why the Texans selected Quessenberry’s fight and why the team selected him.

"“I know it’s a tremendous award and a tremendous honor to be able to get, and I’m sure obviously DQ would be the first one to tell you that he’s super appreciative of it, Meyers said “It was obviously a no-brainer for the whole team to just go ahead and give David that. For what he’s going through right now, it’s something that’s beyond what any of us could imagine right now. He’s grinding through it and he’s working through it and he’s doing his best.”"
