Coming soon to Texas, a third NFL Franchise. Not an expansion team trying to win over heart broken fans like the Texans were faced with in replacing the beloved Oilers. Not the New Orleans Saints as there was talk a few years back. No, I speak of the Oakland Raiders! The bandits in silver and black, the team that helped make John Madden a football legend. Where would this team play? Why right here (well for me at least!) in good old San Antonio. Yes folks, the San Antonio Raiders… could it really be?

Listening to the sports radio in town you’d think it was a pretty much done deal, around the water cooler as it were at work people were pumped. That’s kind of a good thing. Let’s face it though, it’s not gonna happen. While San Antonio has been very, very good to the Spurs, the NFL is a different animal. These talks about talks are more like, try to imagine it this way. The Raiders are the hot gal, she’s been dating Oakland for a long time. But they are having some disagreements, maybe a fight or two about their future. Enter San Antonio, the cute cowboy from South Texas. So the Raiders, they bat their eyes and flirt with San Antonio. There is no real intention of leaving Oakland, just make him jealous. Get him to buy that nice house she wants, with the all the amenities she desires. That’s what this is.

As fas as the Texans fans go, there is a strong and growing fan base here in the Alamo City, and while it would split some loyalties, I don’t think if done right, having more competition in the state will hurt the Texans one bit.

So worry not Texans fans, let not the talk of another NFL franchise on the doorstep of Houston worry you, it’s not really going to happen, at least not anytime soon.
