The big news for the Houston Texans to begin this week was on Monday as they released safety Danieal Manning as stated in an article on CSN Houston.

CSN Houston quoted Manning on Monday in their article as saying:

"“Two grown men agreeing to disagree,” Manning said on the phone Monday afternoon. “It was nothing bad. I think the world of that organization.”"

The article stated Manning was “set to make $4.5 million in base salary,” which is how much the Texans will save on their salary cap as he was a coast of $6 on the aforementioned cap if on the team.

Manning had his good and bad times with the Texans the past three seasons, as last year he had 24 tackles (one sack) in six games played. He suffered a leg injury that cost him the final 10 games.

I really believe somewhere in the draft the Texans are going to be looking to add to their defensive backfield, though they’ve done some work with that this offseason with the signing of Chris Clemons, as he last played for the Miami Dolphins.

In other Texans news:

• Here is a fun post by ESPN.com as Brooks Reed must have lost a bet to fellow teammate J.J. Watt when the Wisconsin Badgers defeated the Arizona Wildcats in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.

Don’t worry Brooks, I looked the same way when Wisconsin won as it busted my bracket.

• Here is John McClain’s first mock draft of the offseason as posted on the Ultimate Texans blog of the Houston Chronicle.

• Bill O’Brien said on Monday that the Houston Texans could will draft at least one QB and possibly two as per this article on NFL.com.
