ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting via his Twitter page that former Houston Texans running back Ben Tate has agreed to a deal with the Cleveland Browns, Saturday.

Schefter tweeted:

Tate followed with this tweet:

This is a really nice signing by the Browns, and I believe a huge mistake by the Texans in letting Tate walk in free agency. The Browns really needed a running back, and Tate will fill the void just fine.

Tate was the heart of the offense last season, and if not for his toughness, the team would have been more of a joke than what they were last season as they had the worst record in the NFL last season at 2-14 overall.

Tate rushed for 771 yards in limited play this past season due to sharing time with Arian Foster, along with missing the final two games of the regular season due to a fifth broken rib.

The newest Browns running back played most of the 2013 season with four broken ribs.

Houston will miss Tate next season, and they better hope they finds a replacement for his role on the team, as we are all unsure how well Foster will hold up after his season-ending back injury.

Best of luck to Tate as the Texans’ loss is the Browns’ gain.
