During Wednesday's press conference with the media, Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans expressed his "eagerness" to see newly acquired running back David Montgomery make his on-field debut with the team after not playing throughout the preseason.
Will Anderson Jr. says "relentless effort" is what's going to be needed against Josh Allen on Sunday
In one of the team's press conferences this week, Anderson Jr. gave a detailed response for how the defense is preparing for Bills quarterback Josh Allen ahead of third run-in with the MVP since the 2024 season. With a smirk, Anderson explained,
“Relentless effort. Everybody swarming. All 11 hats to the ball. Plaster on the backend, swarming up front. You may not get him the first one but pop back up & go get him again. 4=1, no independent contractors.”

Has Houston finally found stability at the running back position?
Since 2016, the Texans have had eight different running backs finish as the leading rusher for each respective season. With Montgomery's arrival, he'd have the potential to be the ninth. With that said, many eyes will be on the tandem of him and returning rusher Woody Marks as they endeavor to finally provide Houston with a level of backfield stability not seen since Lamar Miller's stretch of play from 2016-2018.

According to NFL Insiders Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport, the Texans and quarterback C.J. Stroud have officially agreed to table contract talks until after the 2026 season. Via his official X account, Schefter shared,
"The Houston Texans and quarterback C.J. Stroud made a run at completing a contract extension before the regular season begins, but both sides agreed they now prefer to wait until after this season to work out a long-term deal."
