Ever since the 2024 season concluded, there has been plenty of speculation surrounding Tyreek Hill’s future with the Miami Dolphins.
Trade rumors regarding the Pro Bowl wide receiver resurfaced this week following the Dolphins' disappointing 33-8 loss to the Indianapolis Colts to open the season. On Thursday, ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio joined the Rich Eisen Show and mentioned the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers as possible landing spots for Hill.
That same day, CBS Sports contributor Cody Benjamin unveiled five potential suitors for the 31-year-old wideout – the Steelers, Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, and Houston Texans.
Tyreek Hill would be an instant upgrade to the Texans’ WR room
Make no mistake, Nico Collins is the clear No. 1 option for Texans third-year quarterback C.J. Stroud. Beyond Collins, however, there are plenty of question marks for the Texans at the wide receiver position.
Offseason acquisitions Christian Kirk and Braxton Berrios are currently nursing hamstring injuries, with no timetable on their return, and rookies Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel are still learning the ropes of playing in the NFL.
Hill recorded 81 receptions for 959 yards and six touchdowns in 2024. It was his first season failing to reach the 1,000-yard mark since his injury-shortened 2019 campaign. Despite the dip in production, however, Hill remains one of the fastest wide receivers in the league. Adding a speedster like Hill, as Benjamin writes, “would instantly offer the Texans a field-stretching upgrade.”
In their 14-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams to open the season, Stroud completed only two passes for over 20 yards – a 23-yard pass to Higgins in the 1st quarter and another 23-yard completion to Xavier Hutchinson late in the 2nd quarter.
In advance of their Week 2 matchup against the New England Patriots, Hill, however, was reminded by a reporter that it has been a full year since he’s caught a pass for over 30 yards.
Don’t expect Tyreek Hill to be playing for a new team anytime soon
Amid the speculation, multiple reports suggest the Dolphins haven’t received any calls from other teams about Hill and don’t have any plans to trade him now. Hill is being investigated by the league over allegations of domestic abuse, perhaps indicating why teams are hesitant to pursue the star wide receiver currently.
Keep an eye on the coming weeks, however. Should the Dolphins continue to struggle, plenty of teams could start inquiring about Hill.
