For the seventh time since their inaugural 2002 season, the Houston Texans are facing off against the New York Giants today for a chance to inch even further away from their 0-4 start.

Being winners of their last two in a row, Houston has discovered a prolific passing attack, which has been ignited by the steller aerial mastery of quarterback C.J. Stroud. Defensively, the team is looking for a spark from a unit that's coming off their third game of the same in which an opponent has scored over 30 points (Jacksonville Jaguars, 31 points).

Standing across the field will be Giants head coach John Harbaugh and former Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarty, who's making his first start of the season after a 240-yard, one-touchdown fourth quarter performance last week against the New Orleans Saints.

The stakes are high in this week-seven affair, as the Texans are looking to continue their march toward a redeemed 2026 season.

Houston Texans vs. New York Giants First Half scoring highlights

First Quarter (Nabers-Giants explode for a 7-3 lead)

Ka'imi Fairbairn gets Houston on the board with a 58-yard bomb

After a pretty encouraging opening drive stalled at the Giants 40 yard line, Texans kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn stepped on the field and nailed a 58-yard field goal to give Houston the early lead. 3-0 Houston.

J.J. McCarthy and Malik Nabers hook up for a deep strike, which sets up the goal line score for New York.

Texans cornerback Kamari Lassiter's chronically bad 2026 season continues, as he gets beat 42 yards downfield by Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers on the deep shot by quarterback J.J. McCarthy. New York rusher Tyrone Tracy then pounds the ball through the end zone plane for the touchdown and lead. 7-3 New York.

Second Quarter

Ka'imi Fairbairn goes back-to-back on the long-ball to double up Houston's score

Hearing his number called yet again, Fairbairn dialed up Houston's launch codes and delivered a 57-yard missle through the uprights to help close the gap. 7-6 New York.

J.J. McCarthy and Thomas Fidone keep the pressure on the Texans' secondary, which leads to another short-yardage score

McCarthy seemingly has found himself in the Giants' passing game, this time connecting with tight end Thomas Fidone in a busted coverage situation that put the team one yard from pay dirt. Then, backup quarterback Jameis Winston entered the game and was tushed pushed through the middle of the defense for New York's second touchdown of the first half. 14-6 New York.

C.J. Stroud finds Marvin Harrison Jr. for his first touchdown and the game tying score

You read that correctly, Marvin Harrison Jr. just scored his first touchdown as a member of the Texans' receiving group. After a mesmerizing 43-yard catch-and-run by returning wide receiver Tank Dell, Harrison was found in the back of the end zone by Stroud to help tie the ball game. 14-14 ball game.

Halftime results: Houston Texans and New York Giants tied 14-14

Third Quarter (Defense—and mainly sloppy offense—limits 3rd quarter scoring. 14-14 tie holds.)

Fourth Quarter

Cam Skattebo rumbles his way to a gritty touchdown to give the Giants the lead

In a continuation of a horrid defensive season, Giants running back Cam Skattebo absolutely ran roughshod over Houston's defense, pinballing his way to 16-yard touchdown score and a lead for his team. 21-14 New York.

Xavier Hutchinson scores a game-tying touchdown after a lengthy drive

To cap off a clutch nine-play, 48-yard drive late in the fourth quarter, Stroud found wide receiver Xavier Hutchinson is the end zone on a scramble drill to tie the game. 21-21 ball game.

The Texans then forced overtime after halting the Giants' final offensive drive with 00:11 on the clock.
