NFL free agency kicks off March 15th at 4 pm EST. The Houston Texans' new coaching staff and the front office have already started the process by reviewing the roster and their own pending free agents. As their attention starts to turn towards scouting for the draft and free agency, we look at every other team in the NFL and identify one free agent from each team that Houston should take a closer look at signing. Next up is the AFC East.

Buffalo Bills:
Shaq Lawson, Defensive End

Shaq Lawson ran it back this season with Buffalo after a three-year stint in Miami. Buffalo’s former first-round pick is a stout run defender who can also pressure the quarterback. He also has a knack for getting his hands up and disrupting the pass, with 14 passes defended in his career. He would be a solid addition to the defensive line rotation.

2022 Stats per Pro Football Reference:
15 GP, 31 Tackles, 3.5 Sacks, 9 QB Hits, 1 FF

Projected Market Value per Spotrac:
1 Year / $1,187,500

Miami Dolphins:
Raheem Mostert, Running Back

Mostert has quite the highlight reel of runs showing off top-flight speed as well as powerful and tough running. An ideal combination of quickness, shiftiness, and power, he runs angry and with a purpose on every carry. His stiff arm is nasty and he’s knocked his fair share of defenders off with it. Mostert also compliments in the passing game, turning screens and check downs into big-time plays and first downs.

2022 Stats per Pro Football Reference:
16 GP, 181 Rush, 891 Yds, 4.9 Yds/Att, 3 TDs, 31 Rec, 202 Yds, 2 TDs, 1 Fumble

Projected Market Value per Spotrac:
1 Year / $2,236,558

New England Patriots:
Jakobi Meyers, Wide Receiver

Meyers was easily the best receiver in New England last year, which was reflected in the PFF Free Agent Rankings where Meyers was ranked number seven. He is mainly a slot receiver but is versatile enough to run routes on the outside. While not the fastest, he is a terrific route runner with impressive hands and outstanding body control. He had the ninth-best drop percentage over the past three seasons, coming in at 3.1%, per PFF. Meyers would be an instant upgrade in Houston, and could easily lead this team in receiving next season.

2022 Stats per Pro Football Reference:

16 GP, 67 Rec, 804 Yds, 6 TDs, 2 Fumbles

Projected Market Value per Spotrac:

4 Years / $50,034,028

New York Jets:
Bryce Huff, Defensive End

Undrafted out of Memphis in 2020, Bryce Huff has primarily been used as a situational pass rusher with the Jets. In limited snaps, he has shown off athleticism and pass-rushing skills that are coveted around the league. He garnered 3.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and 10 QB hits. He is constantly around the quarterback and would shore up the pass rush in Houston.

2022 Stats per Pro Football Reference:

14 GP, 6 Tackles, 3.5 Sacks, 1 FF, 10 QB Hits

Projected Market Value per Spotrac:

3 Years / $2,300,000
