For a while now, Texans fans have waited with tons of anticipation for a first glimpse at their new jerseys. The team hasn't really had a rebrand since joining the NFL in 2002, and coming off a surprise AFC South title with Rookie of the Year QB CJ Stroud, 2024 is as good a time as any for a little bit of a brand refresh.
And then, on Monday, the first possible reveal of the new threads was leaked online. The picture looked kind of fake, so many who were underwhelmed by the changes held out hope that it was just another instance of the internet fooling everyone. But then, not much later in the day, Texans owner Cal McNair posted an official picture of the unis on Reddit, confirming that the original picture was accurate:
Texans owner Cal McNair posted these on Reddit, and the team tweeted it out, so I’d say we have one of Houston’s new uniform sets right here. pic.twitter.com/XM11cfMfhh

Even without seeing the full set, the internet wasted no time giving the jerseys the standard meme treatment. Reactions were, uh, mixed:

Not particularly good, but not a total Nike disaster. pic.twitter.com/3Hdlq0LLts

I'm not trying to hate, but if the uniform models they used to show these things came into the Texans locker room Fairbairn would have been giving them wedgies and making them carry his pads.

Everyone thought Nike would be amazing for NFL jersey designs but most teams couldn’t be more boring. Absolutely nothing distinctive about this look https://t.co/iuhxmPR1t9
