3 running back prospects the Houston Texans could draft
An underrated need for the Houston Texans is a running back. They just acquired Joe Mixon from the Cincinnati Bengals, but there's not too much behind him. Dameon Pierce has taken a few steps back since his productive rookie campaign where he rushed for 939 yards and four TDs. Part of that reason is due to injuries, and last year the emergence of Devin Singletary didn't help him either. Now, going into year three the Texans haven't seen much improvement from Pierce, and the Texans may opt to go with a rookie to complement the aforementioned Joe Mixon. But who's available later on that they could draft?
This draft class doesn't have a first-round running back, but the talent on days two and three is undeniably good. From Wisconsin's Braelon Allen to Michigan's Blake Corum, and finally Notre Dame's Audric Estime, the RB depth is the best we've seen it in a long time. But, where should the Texans take theirs?
A starting running back isn't a true need just yet, they just need a better RB2 behind Mixon. And since Pierce can't offer that, they're going to have to find a replacement. Now that WR isn't a pressing need anymore, that gives Houston more wiggle room to go heavy on other positions, or take a position earlier than they originally planned on. Taking a back on day two isn't super likely, especially given the talent that will still be there later on day three. But one thing you can count on is Houston having multiple shiny new running backs next season. Let's take a look at a few they could draft
