Houston Texans rookie Dameon Pierce scored his first career touchdown

It finally happened for Houston Texans rookie Dameon Pierce as the running back reached the end zone with his first career NFL touchdown, coming in the second quarter in Week 3 against the Chicago Bears.

The touchdown run came on first-and-goal for the Texans as it was a 2-yard run for six points. The scoring run also put Houston ahead of the Bears by a 14-10 score following the PAT.

Below is the TD run by Pierce against the Bears in the second quarter:

Texans: Pierce’s TD came at the right time for Houston

This touchdown run by Pierce was much needed by the Houston offense and by Pierce as this was his third career NFL game during his rookie season. In his first two games, Pierce, who was drafted in the fourth round, totaled 26 carries for 102 yards rushing against the 49ers and Broncos. Pierce entered this Week 3 game averaging 3.9 yards per carry.

When Houston drafted Pierce in the fourth round it was known at that moment the running back would be a difference maker for the offense and have success with the Texans. Pierce shares a running back room that also includes Rex Burkhead, who is a solid veteran running back to play next to Pierce and has to be a huge help of knowledge for the rookie.

This so far is the best game of Pierce’s short career as he has 80-plus yards in three quarters. Time will tell just how good this game will be for Pierce in Week 3.

It may have taken a little longer than anyone wanted for the first touchdown to happen, but it finally did, and hopefully there are many more to come for the talented player.
