The Houston Texans are back on the field with their preseason opener against the New Orleans Saints at NRG Stadium this Saturday night.

It is good to see the Houston Texans will be back on the football field on Saturday evening as they host the New Orleans Saints in Week 1 of the 2022 NFL preseason.

A lot has changed since the last time the Texans played in a game to end the 2021 season with Houston promoting Lovie Smith to be the new head coach after firing David Culley following his one season at the helm of the Texans. Houston also promoted Pep Hamilton to offensive coordinator, as he was the quarterbacks coach last season for the franchise.

The preseason will be a good way to get second-year quarterback Davis Mills some reps at the position as this is his first preseason as the starter of the team. Last season, Mills was the Texans’ starter 11 out of 17 games, but he was thrown into the mix following an injury and later poor play from Tyrod Taylor.

This is Mills’ season to shine at quarterback in Houston, and his offense should be better overall, as offensive line, tight end and running back play are things to watch in this preseason opener. Some of the players to watch if they get playing time are Nico Collins at wide receiver, and on the offensive line players like Charlie Heck and Justin McCray because they could be valuable players for depth purposes in 2022.

This should be a nice game to watch because every player on the Houston roster needs to show what they can prove to stay on the team as the roster continues to rebuild. It will be interesting to see how much time (if any) the top guys will have in this game since it is the preseason opener, but it will be worth watching to see what kind of depth the Texans have for the ’22 season.
