If there was anyone who would get the most out of a quarterback that had some doubts about him, it was Bill Belichick. Belichick got Mac Jones to be the best rookie quarterback in 2021, and it showed as the Patriots made it to the wildcard round of the playoffs against the Buffalo Bills.
The Bills proceeded to take out 20 years of frustration that night as the country watched in enjoyment that the Patriots were finally getting a taste of their own medicine and won the game 47-7.
Jones will get to have a new target to throw to in DeVante Parker, but the Patriots can’t draft a wide receiver that will work to save their football lives. Does anyone know where the next Danny Amendola or Chris Hogan are?
New England also let cornerback J.C. Jackson walk in free agency, and we’ll see what that does for their win-loss record this season. But for now, Jones takes the rookie quarterback crown. We’ll see if he can repeat it.
