Kevin O’Connell’s offensive prowess could make him the next Houston Texans head coach.

While current Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell hasn’t technically completed an interview with the Houston Texans yet, the request has been put in. The young, offensive mind has the potential to fit great with the Texans.

O’Connell is in his second season as LA’s offensive coordinator, and his work certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed. Chargers head coach Brandon Staley wanted to hire O’Connell as his OC before Rams coach Sean McVay blocked the interview request, showing O’Connell’s value to Los Angeles. O’Connell will be trying to get to Super Bowl LVI this Sunday as he takes on the San Francisco 49ers for the third time this season.

Bringing O’Connell aboard in Houston could help expedite QB Davis Mills’ development, along with improving the entire Texans offense. Once again, there’s a New England connection, as O’Connell was drafted in 2008 to the Patriots, while GM Nick Caserio was employed there. The pipeline between these two teams seems like it was made by mother nature.

The candidates don’t stop there, as we shift from one LA mind to another.
