The Houston Texans delivered a near-fatal hit to the Los Angeles Chargers playoff hopes.

Whether it was the game plan, the factor of the proverbial “trap game” rearing its head once again, or COVID ravaging the L.A. Chargers’ gameplan, the Houston Texans walked into NRG Stadium, locked the door, and threw away the key just beat the ever-living daylights out of the Chargers.

Rex Burkhead and the rushing game came alive, something that’s been missing all season. Burkhead erupted for 22 carries, 150 yards, and two touchdowns, easily being the best day a Houston Texans runner has had all year.

On top of that, the unreal 24 points that Houston put up in the fourth quarter is their best in one quarter all year, and the dagger was sealed on this 49-yard pick-six of Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert.

The Houston Texans show that the building blocks are there and can do great things.

Not many predicted the Texans to win today. Even our predictions were flipped in terms of the final score (maybe we should pick them to lose big every week- just kidding, we won’t). Davis Mills had a stellar day, going 21/27 for 254 yards and two touchdowns.

No matter who was on the field for either team, you still have to be good to score that much. That’s exactly what the Houston Texans were today- the best team on the field, that is. Today’s victory also earns David Culley some time after enduring the roughest season in Texans history so far.

As for Los Angeles drops the Chargers from the sixth seed to out of the AFC playoff race, joining a handful of teams that are in the hunt.

Every dog has its day. So enjoy the win, Texans fans!
