Who should the Houston Texans interview if David Culley is fired?
Joe Barry has led the Packers to a stout defense, flying under the radar as a potential Houston Texans head coach option
If I told you that this was the same defensive coordinator who was on the 2008 Detroit Lions that went winless and he has the Green bay Packers’ defense as one of the best in the league AND the NFC’s top seed, what would you say?
Green Bay has been known more for Aaron Rodgers’ prowess and ability to bail the team out time and time again (except for the 2013-2015 postseasons). Barry could partner with Lovie Smith to create a superpower within the AFC South. Barry is also known for the Los Angeles Rams’ appearance in Super Bowl LIII, a defense that wreaked havoc and allowed Todd Gurley to run wild.
As for who his offensive coordinator would be, that is anyone’s guess. It shouldn’t be Kelly, so fill in the blank on that one. Of course, having Aaron Rodgers to help keep your defense in games certainly helps, but his impact cannot be overlooked.
In an AFC South that seems somewhat volatile, the Texans could be closer than most people expect to get back into the playoffs. However, their two wins have come against divisional opponents, and better defense to create more opportunities would do wonders for Houston’s offense.
