Who are the top three options for the Houston Texans in the first round?

With the Houston Texans being 1-8 and the chances of another victory looking very unlikely, it’s time to look at the top options for the second overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Texans are a team that has holes all over the roster, and not just at quarterback. Just about any draft prospect would fit as a good pick. But which of those positions are of the direst need?

That position has gotten the majority of the attention for obvious reasons. At the end of the day, there are multiple ways General Manager Nick Caserio can go in the top five of April’s draft. With the likelihood of having multiple first-round picks (with a potential Deshaun Watson trade), Caserio would have even more talent to look at. That trade will be covered in another article, but for now, the draft options will be discussed as if that actually went through.

The only direction that would be a surprise as of right now would be selecting a quarterback that high in this draft-when there isn’t a clear top-five talent at the position. Depending on where the second pick in the first round is located that might be where Caserio goes QB drafting someone like Matt Corral, Kenny Pickett, or Malik Willis.

With that being said here are three players the Texans could take that would be instant difference makers at number two if the draft started today. With the Detroit Lions most likely picking first and expected to take Kayvon Thibodeaux, he won’t be included in this list.
