The Houston Texans scouts can’t miss Kenneth Walker III.
In what has been one of the earliest and most surprising Heisman candidates, Kenneth Walker III for Michigan State made the biggest entrance to the season. In Week 1 of the college football season, Walker III torched Northwestern’s defense on the very first play from scrimmage, a 75-yard run that set the tone for the rest of the night.
Walker III would finish for 264 yards and four touchdowns to spoil the WIldcats’ home opener. Walker would add another touchdown against FCS opponent Youngstown State, before most recently having a field day against the Miami Hurricanes.
Walker III went for 17
2 yards on the ground and added a receiving touchdown. Houston Texans fans are excited about Scottie Miller being the next franchise running back, but Walker may give off Arian Foster-like vibes.
Kenneth Walker III must be on the Houston Texans come draft day
If Walker can continue his incredible performance throughout the rest of Michigan State’s conference play, then his draft stock will rise. As of right now, Walker III could be considered at the highest a second-round pick to an early fourth-round pick at the lowest.
The Texans could use a surefire playmaker at the running back position. Walker coming to the Texans would mean David Johnson and Rex Burkhead being released. Having five players at a skill position that usually has three doesn’t make a lot of sense. It’s hurting the Texans right now as key playmakers are hitting the injury report.
If Deshaun Watson is traded, then Davis Mills will need a reliable rookie RB to take the pressure off the passing game. Kenneth Walker III fits that need completely.
