Another year, another Josh Gordon reinstatement. Should the Houston Texans sign him?

With the offense being as stagnant as it was on Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers, the  Houston Texans could explore the opportunity to sign the well-documented troubled, yet skilled wide receiver Josh Gordon.

Gordon has been around the NFL since 2012, most notable for his off-the-field struggles as opposed to what he brings in terms of skill. Gordon once had 498 yards receiving in two games in 2013, an NFL record. Ironically as troubled as he is, he has a Super Bowl ring with New England Patriots.

Gordon is also the only NFL player to have back-to-back 200-yard receiving games and played as recently as 2019 with the Patriots and Seattle Seahawks.

The Houston Texans should definitely sign Josh Gordon

This is a signing that can really help open up this offense. With Nico Collins and Danny Amendola hurt, Brandin Cooks has way too many defenders focused on him at all times. Chris Conley has barely been targeted, Anthony Miller has just returned from injury, and Andre Roberts hasn’t been a true receiver since his Arizona Cardinal days.

This isn’t going to hurt if it doesn’t work out. Getting Collins back would make this WR corps harder to cover than what we last saw against the Panthers. Nick Caserio should offer a pretty cheap one-year deal to help the journeyman wide receiver find a home.

Gordon can develop into another weapon for Davis Mills, and once Tyrod Taylor returns the connection is going to be even more lethal.

All the more reasons for Gordon to wear the Deep Stell Blue on Sundays.
