The Houston Texans head into a primetime home game as the underdogs.

Talk about the disrespect. When the Houston Texans take the field tonight under the lights of NRG Stadium to take on the Carolina Panthers, they’re going to be doubted instantly. Texans fans know that this team is not as bad as people make it out to be. After a throttling of Jacksonville and taking Cleveland to the brink of 0-2, it’s time to shut some people up.

With that being said, three Houston Texans players will have to ball out in order to stop the Carolina Panthers tonight. Some of these players are going to be thrust into action due to injury, or face some elite talent that they’ll need to play a perfect game to stop their matchup.

The Panthers walk in with three weapons that stand out: WR D.J. Moore, RB Christian McCaffrey, and their defense. Other than that, no one else should have a heavy game plan around.

Carolina enters the game with the league’s top-ranked defense, but only the 18th-best offense. There is a reason why they only beat the New York Jets by five points. Sam Darnold hasn’t played like he’s a “world-beater”, nor should he be expected to be one against the Houston Texans.

This game is going to be closer than most people think, just like Houston’s Week 2 loss to the Browns in which they were tied at halftime. These three players will be the biggest reasons why the Texans are victorious tonight.
