The Houston Texans added another touchdown with Tyrod Taylor passing to David Johnson.
It didn’t take long for the Houston Texans to score a second touchdown in the 2021 NFL season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. This time the touchdown went through the air as new Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor earned his first touchdown pass in a Houston uniform.
Taylor has one of the toughest jobs in the NFL and that is taking the spot vacated by Deshaun Watson, and so far he’s has one touchdown pass in the first half to his credit. The TD pass came on a third-and-4 play from the Jacksonville 7-yard line to running back David Johnson for the Red Zone score with 2:25 left in the first quarter. At the time, following the PAT, the Texans led the visiting Jaguars, 14-0.
Houston’s first touchdown was a 1-yard rush by Mark Ingram, as that play was set up by a 40-yard reception by Brandin Cooks off a Taylor pass.

This touchdown was huge for the Houston Texans because on the next drive by the Jaguars saw Jacksonville rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence throw his first career touchdown pass. Now we know the Houston Texans will be the answer of that trivia question when the question is: “Who did Trevor Lawrence throw his first career touchdown pass against?”

As this game continue the Houston Texans have managed to play with the lead. Time will tell how the Texans will do for the remainder of the Week 1 game against the Jaguars, but so far they’ve managed to score two touchdowns in the first half.
