Houston Texans can look at veteran quarterbacks in free agency

The free agent market following the 2021 season is another place the Houston Texans could find their next long-term quarterback.

Tyrod Taylor will most likely not return for the ’22 season unless it is as a mentor for the high draft pick, but he could return depending on the success he has at QB.

One quarterback who is scheduled to be a ’22 free agent is Jameis Winston, currently with the New Orleans Saints. At this point we know who Winston is as a player, but his age (27 years old) and arm talent are the only two things that make him a possibility to be signed.

Next is Mitchell Trubisky, as his talent was praised coming out of UNC and it’s entirely possible his performance in Chicago was the product of bad coaching met with unrealistic expectations. The 27-year old Trubisky is a possibility if the Houston Texans go the free agent route.

Lastly there is Jacoby Brissett mostly due to the fact that Nick Caserio was in New England when Brissett was originally drafted, and was rumored to be enamored by the QB.

Brissett’s skill set is a lot like Tyrod Taylor’s with a slightly stronger arm, so again, with starters experience to his credit, there is a chance Brissett could be a free agent signing.
