Defensive line rotation for Houston Texans performing great early on

The Houston Texans have taken young players like Johnathon Greenard, Maliek Collins, and Ross Blacklock and turned them into respectable performers at their positions on the defensive front. This is a testament to Defensive Coordinator Lovie Smith’s skills and experience at the NFL level.

The three players mentioned above have seemed over the first two weeks to cement their place in what figures to be a better-than-expected kind of unit.

The player that really has surprisingly underperformed is Shaq Lawson. After being acquired from Miami many thought Lawson was a shoo-in to start. His performance has shown Texans fans that it may not have been the best trade to make.

But Lawson may not make this team either through being cut or traded away. Lawson has been playing well into the second half of these pre-season games which doesn’t usually mean much. A heavy veteran presence that exists on the current roster may just be the odd man out.

Next. So far, so good for David Culley. dark

These are just a few things to pay attention to as the Texans go into the game against the Buccaneers and the regular season. May the odds ever be in Houston’s favor.
