Davis Mills will have a typical rookie’s day against in first NFL action for Houston Texans
For Davis Mills, this can’t be the ideal situation that he wanted to enter the NFL in. Being picked in the third round as the team’s first pick of the 2021 draft, he may just become the de facto starter for the team. Mills’ touchdown to interception ratio (TD: INT) was incredibly average at Stanford, posting an 18:8 ratio.
Plus with three starting offensive linemen on the reserve/COVID-19 list, including 2019 first-round pick Tytus Howard this is only going to make it harder. On top of that, on August 11th, Mills basically got to run with the starters in a practice.
The reporters who were there said it was an appallingly bad performance by Mills, and possibly the worst display of a quarterbacks’ skills that some of them had ever seen.
I’m hoping for the best, but don’t be surprised if Mills struggles.
