4. Cam Newton

While they were together for only one year in New England in 2020, both are likely exiting from the Patriots’ organization. First Caserio left to take the job in Houston, and now quarterback Cam Newton will look for a new home as well. Could the two meet up once again in Texas as the Texans quarterback situation hangs in the air?

There is no doubt Newton’s play has taken a dip since his MVP winning season in 2016, however we saw glimpses of a healthy Newton this season which makes you wonder if he can get back to that level. He is only 31, so he still has plenty of football left in him, so Newton could be a good candidate for a bridge role in Houston as both look to meet goals of getting back on top.

Again, the hope is that Watson plays this season in a Texans’ uniform. However, Caserio’s hair will certainly be greying each day they get closer to camp without any sign of Watson. To avoid tanking their price tag like the Washington Football Team did with Trent Williams, the Texans may be better off giving Watson his wish. Newton will be a solid replacement should they choose to grant Watson’s wish.
