Texans at Jaguars: TV schedule, radio, live stream, where to watch
The Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars return to face each other other in Week 9.
Following a bye week for both the Houston Texans and the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Week 9 matchup has a few twists and a couple turns because the Texans are having issues with players out due COVID-19 precautions. As for the Jaguars, they have a new starting quarterback in Jake Luton making his first start in the NFL.
This week for the Houston Texans, Jacob Martin tested positive for COVID-19, and as an ESPN article by ESPN Staff Writer Sarah Barshop stated, both Dylan Cole and Whitney Mercilus were ruled out as well due to “close contacts” and will miss Sunday’s game.
Also for the Texans, cornerback Bradley Roby will not play on Sunday due to “disciplinary reasons” as reported by Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.
All of that said, this is still a “must watch” game for both fan bases as both teams are coming off a bye week, there will be some newness to the players on the field with both teams having roster changes. Plus, this is a very winnable game for the Houston Texans as they defeated the Jaguars in Week 5.
Also don’t overlook the Jaguars, even if they haven’t won since Week 1 and are one of the worst teams in the league. Both the Texans and Jaguars enter this week at 1-6 overall, so the team that loses this game will be in last place all by themselves in the AFC South.

This game won’t catch the attention of the national media unless they are talking about Deshaun Watson or the future of J.J. Watt, but overall the Texans should be winners of this contest once the game is complete.
Back in October the Texans defeated the Jaguars, 30-14 at NRG Stadium, where Watson was10-of-35 for 359 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. That game Watson was sacked once and averaged 10.3 yards per completion. Deshaun Watson was also the second leading rusher for the Texans that day, finishing with two rushes for 25 yards.
Also in this Week 9 game watch out for David Johnson. In the Week 5 meeting he rushed for 96 yards on 17 carries, averaging 5.6 yards per carry, which was one of his best games of the season. Remember this was also the best game of the season for Brandin Cooks who had eight receptions (on 12 targets) for 161 yards with one touchdown, so both could have solid games yet again against Jacksonville.
A repeat performance from those three players in Week 9 is exactly what the Houston Texans need following a bye week.
The Houston Texans have won the past five meetings between the two teams, and a win on Sunday would time an all-time consecutive wins mark the Texans have against Jacksonville which was six straight wins from Dec. 2014 through Dec. 2018.
Announcing the Week 9 AFC South showdown will be Spero Dedes and Adam Archuleta according to 506 Sports.
