Fantasy Football: David Johnson can have surprising season for Houston Texans
2. Fantasy Football 2020: David Johnson joins Deshaun Watson
The duo of David Johnson and Deshaun Watson on the Houston Texans offense could become a very strong combination, and they too will surprise many with their overall level of play in 2020. Even the folks who make the Madden 21 ratings undervalued Watson with an 86 overall grade, and with David Johnson, the feeling is he’s being undervalued in terms of the old saying “what have you done for me lately?”
The duo of Watson to Johnson out of the Houston Texans backfield has an excellent opportunity in front of them to put up some exciting fantasy football numbers. In the past, it has been proven David Johnson can make catches out of the backfield, as his time with the Arizona Cardinals saw him make a total of 208 receptions for 2,219 yards, 10.7 yards per reception and 15 touchdown receptions.
Watson will use Johnson to his full ability this upcoming season, as not only will Johnson be the main running back on the Texans offense, but since the Texans no longer have a “superstar” wide receiver, the targets will be spread out many different ways in 2020.
The Texans offense is built nicely for David Johnson to have a successful season. Last year, teammate and fellow running back Duke Johnson had 44 receptions on 55 targets for 410 yards and three touchdowns, as he was the main receiving focus for Watson in 2019. Carlos Hyde at running back totaled 10 receptions on 16 targets for 42 yards, and Taiwan Jones had one reception on one target for nine yards.
Great numbers can occur for David Johnson in 2020 with Watson as his quarterback, and that might just be more valuable than all of the numbers he can bring rushing the football.
