Houston Texans: Deshaun Watson’s Madden 21 rating is a joke
The Madden 21 video game rating of Deshaun Watson is way too low for the Houston Texans quarterback.
The Madden 21 video game rating of Deshaun Watson was released on Monday, and well, it could be the first major glitch for the legendary game for the newest edition. The Madden football video game rated the Texans quarterback Watson as an 86 overall player, making him the eighth-best quarterback in the game.
One word describes that 86 rating by the Madden 21 folks … WRONG! How can one of the very best quarterbacks in the entire NFL, one who if it weren’t for his abilities throwing and rushing the football wouldn’t be winning division titles and gaining a win in the playoffs, be rated an 86?
Watson’s 86 overall grade in Madden for this year put 20-year veteran Tom Brady ahead of him. Granted, Brady is a six-time Super Bowl champion and has a fresh start in Tampa Bay this season, but in terms of an overall better player right now, Watson should be chosen over Brady any day of the week in 2020.
In more of a breakdown of the rating of Deshaun Watson, his speed is at 84, accuracy is 88, strength is 65, agility is 89 and awareness is 83, as those are the main categories for the quarterback.
The highest rated player in the game was Patrick Mahomes, with the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback having a rating of 99 overall. Next were Russell Wilson (Seahawks, 97), Lamar Jackson (Ravens, 94), Drew Brees (Saints, 93), Tom Brady (Buccaneers, 90), Aaron Rodgers (Packers, 89) and Matt Ryan (Falcons, 87).

This isn’t saying the quarterbacks ranked ahead of Deshaun Watson aren’t good or even great players. All this is saying is Watson is disrespected with the 86 overall Madden 21 rating, and he is better than that overall number.
Houston Texans News: Deshaun Watson is underrated in Madden 21
Those who rank players and scout them for a living know just how good Deshaun Watson is as a quarterback, and he’s changed the overall outlook of the Houston Texans offense in his short time with the franchise.
Deshaun Watson is coming off a season where his teams beat the Kansas City Chiefs and the New England Patriots (then led by Brady) in the regular season. The Pro Bowl selection also passed for 3,852 yards with 26 touchdown passes. Watson also rushed for 413 yards and seven touchdowns in just his third year in the league.
Since Watson has been a member of the Texans, the franchise has won two division championships, they have won a playoff game last season, and though he doesn’t have a superstar wide receiver at the moment on the roster, Watson is going into the 2020 season still as an undervalued player … at least in the Madden 21 circles.
Yes, these are just video game numbers, but it just shows everyone how underrated and undervalued the Houston Texans offense and Deshaun Watson really are. Even for this upcoming season, nobody is giving the Texans a chance to win the AFC South for a third straight season, especially after the team lost DeAndre Hopkins in a trade this offseason.
The feeling is the same each season for Watson and the Texans, and that is they have to play the underdog role and prove all the doubters wrong. That is most definitely the case for the 2020 Texans and the Madden 21 rating for Deshaun Watson, as he enters his fourth season in the NFL.
