Houston Texans: 2020 schedule predictions and breakdown
Week 5: Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans
Finally a game that we can look forward to on the schedule to bring some good Texans news! The first AFC South matchup for Houston in 2020 comes against the bottom-dweller Jaguars, who similarly purged their roster for cap purposes. Gone are A.J. Bouye, Calais Campbell, and Nick Foles. The next player soon to be traded is disgruntled pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue.
The Texans new weapons like Brandin Cooks, David Johnson and Randall Cobb will get a chance to shine against this depleted roster, and the defense should have another field day against Gardner Minshew. Expect this to be a blowout and a very entertaining one-sided affair from Houston.
Prediction: Texans 35, Jaguars 17 (Houston Record: 2-3)
Week 6: Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans
Despite the fact that the Texans news lasy season them toppleing their AFC South foes in Tennessee last year — after stymieing Derrick Henry to only 81 yards — the Titans flexed their way to the AFC Championship Game.
This will be an intriguing matchup of quarterbacks, as Deshaun Watson hopes to capitalize on a possible MVP season and Ryan Tannehill wants to back up his monster contract with stellar play. This game will fully depend on both teams running games, and by then we should have a better idea about how David Johnson fits into the Texans offense.
Having J.J. Watt back on the defensive line alongside second round pick Ross Blacklock will have a tremendous impact in terms of stopping the Titans potent running game. But will they be able to provide pressure on Tannehill and the strong offensive he has protecting him? This game could be a toss-up, but I’ll side with the home team in this one.
Prediction: Titans 27, Texans 24 (Houston Record: 2-4)
