The Free Agent

4. Jordan Howard

Sure, Jordan Howard is coming off a season where he played in just 10 games, but in those games he averaged 4.4 yards per game as he ran the football just 119 times for 525 yards and six touchdowns, as during the season he suffered a shoulder injury. Howard also caught 10 passes last season for 69 yards and one touchdown.

Being in the NFL for four seasons, Howard played the first three years with the Chicago Bears, where he played in a total of 47 games before playing in the 10 games last year with the Eagles.

For his four seasons in the league, Howard has 897 attempts for 3,895 yards, averaging 4.3 yards per carry. He’s also rushed for 30 touchdowns. Also in his four-year career, Howard has 82 receptions for 637 yards and two touchdowns.

The best part about Howard is in the past he’s rushed for over 1,000 yards in a season twice during his NFL career. There is that, plus Howard will be an affordable option for a team like the Texans who could save some cap space they are going to need to use on other much larger contract extensions.
