The fate of two of the Houston Texans free agents has been determined before the start of free agency.

Houston Texans will bring back Pro Bowl long snapper Jon Weeks to an extension according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. Weeks has been one of the mainstays in the Texans organization since signing with them after going undrafted from Baylor in 2010.

The former Baylor long snapper holds the franchise record of being active for 160 games since his arrival to the league and could prolong it once the regular season starts.

Weeks was named as a Pro Bowl alternate this past season and is still considered one of the better players at his position across the league. The Texans have placed an emphasis on retaining their core of special teams after re-signing punter Bryan Anger to a three-year extension towards the end of the season.

On the other hand, former Pro Bowl safety Mike Adams announced on NFL Network that he has decided to call it a career after 16 seasons in the league.

Adams, 38, was one of the oldest active defensive backs in the league this past season with the Texans, but he provided Houston with a solid depth player at safety.

Adams played a role in the safety rotation with Jahleel Addae and Tashaun Gipson dealing with injuries of their own through the playoffs. He finished with six tackles and a forced fumble in the two postseason games the Texans played against the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs.

Texans could pursue a veteran safety through free agency or resort to the draft to bolster their secondary for this upcoming season.
