A.J. McCarron, QB

29 years old, $3 million: 1 start, 21/37 (56.8%) passing, 225 pass yards, 1 INT, 5 rush/39 rush yards, 1 rush TD

As Deshaun Watson‘s primary backup, McCarron performed admirably in his Week 17 start yet lost that game while the rest of the starters were benched. He provides a low ceiling/low floor as a mid-tier backup. Decision: Re-sign

Jahleel Addae, SS

30 years old, $1.1 million: 16 games/3 starts, 46 tackles, 2 INTs

After a rash of secondary injuries and unexpectedly being thrust into the starting lineup, Addae provided solid depth in his first season with the Houston Texans. He should be welcomed back on another short term, low salary deal. Decision: Re-sign

Mike Adams, FS

39 years old, $1.09 million: 6 games, 3 tackles

Adams has had a long, successful career and was even a Pro-Bowler in his time with the Indianapolis Colts, but he little more than depth at the bottom of the roster. I wouldn’t expect him back. Decision: Let Go

Joe Webb, QB

33 years old, $1.02 million: missed the season with a foot injury

Webb was one of the most exhilarating players of the preseason yet suffered an untimely injury and ended up landing on IR just before Week 1. He has technically started a playoff game with Minnesota, yet likely won’t be back on the roster as a third quarterback. Decision: Let Go

Taiwan Jones, RB

32 years old, $1.02 million: 14 snaps, 9 rush/40 yards, 1 reception/9 yards

Though he did help provide one of the biggest plays in Texans history as the wide receiver on Deshaun Watson’s miracle play vs. Buffalo, it was one of his only times on the field all year. Decision: Let Go

Jon Weeks, LS

34 years old: $975k

As elite as long snappers come these days. Give the man what he wants, and keep the magic he’s provided since 2010 alive. Decision: Re-sign
