The second week of the XFL has arrived, and here are players to watch Saturday — players who could  potentially add to the roster of the Houston Texans one day.

The XFL got off to a strong and exciting start in Week 1 last weekend, but Week 2 gives the Houston Texans another chance for the franchise to watch players who could get an invitation to training camp this summer.

It is also no secret the Texans need to add to the defensive line, they could improve some at linebacker, and offensively depth at wide receiver is a need as well because of injuries that seem to pop up every season.

Also don’t forget about running back because there are a few questions that remain at the position too with pending free agency issues and decisions that will need to be made on Carlos Hyde, Lamar Miller and any other free agent player who was with the franchise this past season.

As for the XFL, the first week should be considered a success because folks seemed to enjoy the football product, and some of the innovations they’ve made for their league were fun to watch, as the extra point choice following a touchdown is unique, to say the least.

Who knows? This league could make for some excitement as the winter continues, and maybe a few players will end up back with the NFL. One of those players on the Houston Roughnecks, defensive lineman Kony Ealy, is working to get his career back on track.

In this second week of the XFL, expect much more competitive football. Will it be the greatest football we’ve ever seen? No, but give the league a chance.

Next are four players to watch on Saturday — one player from each team — as they work to get noticed by those who scout and run the NFL teams, because we know those in charge of their respective teams have scouts watching players this weekend.

Enjoy watching some pro football in mid-February, and who knows? Maybe the next star in the NFL will be playing in the XFL on Saturday.
