2. Patrick Mahomes will throw two interceptions

The prediction of Patrick Mahomes throwing two interceptions isn’t saying the reigning NFL Most Valuable Player isn’t going to have an excellent game because most likely he will, but the Houston Texans defensive pass rush has an opportunity to cause chaos to Mahomes on Sunday.

Mahomes hasn’t thrown two interceptions in a game all season, and for the year he has just five total interceptions thrown. Take a closer look and you will see that Mahomes has thrown three of those five interceptions in the past four games. In Week 6 when facing the Texans, Mahomes threw one interception to Tashaun Gipson, but he also threw three touchdowns in that same game.

Gipson didn’t play in the Wild Card game last Saturday, and sadly for the Texans he’s now on the IR and will miss the Divisional Round game as well due to a lower back injury. That means the one player to get an interception against Mahomes in the regular season won’t be in the secondary.

The last time Mahomes threw more than one interception in a game was in Week 11 of the ’18 season against the Los Angeles Rams (a game where he threw 46 passes). Looking back at the playoffs from a season ago, in two games played Mahomes threw zero interceptions.

Keeping Mahomes at bay and forcing him to make mistakes will be a key for the Texans to win this game and to help them move to the AFC Championship Game for the first time in franchise history.
